A new product has been launched by Barclays Wealth that could be a good long-term investment for those concerned about the uncertainty of the economic outlook.
The Growthbuilder offers investors a maximum return of 42 per cent after six years.
Furthermore, it offers investors a seven per cent locked-in return for every year that the FTSE 100 is at or above its starting level.
This option is available to investors on any of the plan's six anniversaries.
However, according to Barclays Wealth, no return will be locked-in if the FSE is below starting level on any of these anniversaries.
Capital is returned in full at maturity, regardless of market performance.
However, investors are advised that some of their initial capital may be lost if they choose to withdraw from it before maturity.
Manager at Barclays Wealth Lisa Chaudhuri commented on the product: "Capital is returned at maturity irrespective of the performance of the FTSE so this will offer added assurance to investors uncertain of future market performance."
